Kelce and Swift have gone from strength to strength ever since the pop star publicly confirmed their romance by heading to Arrowhead for the first time back in September, when Kansas City picked up a win over the Chicago Bears.
Eight months later love is still very much in the air for the super-couple, with Swift going on to attend plenty more of Kelce’s games throughout the season – including the Chiefs’ recent Super Bowl victory in Las Vegas.
And according to Winchester, Travis was smitten from the moment his girlfriend rocked up to that early-season game against the Bears.
‘I walked up to Trav in the game, we were on the sideline, and I said, “Hey man, that’s cool she’s here,”‘ the Chiefs’ long snapper said on the Like a Farmer podcast.
‘And he’s like, “What do you mean? Did they put her up on the Jumbotron or something?”
‘And I’m like, “No, no, Jay [White, equipment manager] just told me. That’s awesome man, good for you.”
‘He just kind of smiled and was like blushing.’
Winchester admitted he thought ‘the whole thing was just made up’ before hearing that Swift had arrived to watch the game.
Later in the day, Kelce’s teammate – whose young son and daughter were also at Arrowhead that afternoon – had the chance to meet her himself.
Winchester recalled: ‘The first thing she said was, “Hey you’re the guy with the cute kids!”
‘I was like… I think I just became a T Swift fan!’
When asked if he’s now a ‘Swiftie’, he continued: ‘I’m a fan of her, because being around her this year and hearing everything… she’s just such a genuine person.
‘It might have got old for a lot of people seeing all that posted, but for us it was great. It wasn’t a distraction, couldn’t be happier for Trav and her, and that whole deal seems like a really good thing for him and her.’
Following his Super Bowl triumph, Kelce jetted out to Australia to watch Swift on the latest leg of her Eras Tour. The loved-up couple also enjoyed a trip to the Bahamas together in March.
Earlier this week, reports emerged claiming Travis was ‘taken aback’ by claims from Jana Kramer that he is a bad influence on his girlfriend due to his drinking habits.
On Sunday Kramer, the American country singer and actress engaged to former England attacking coach Allan Russell, said that she initially ‘loved’ Kelce and Swift’s PDA-filled relationship, like when they shared an on-the-field kiss immediately after Kansas City’s AFC title win.
However, she then pointed to the three-time Super Bowl champ’s behavior this offseason, after he was seen partying in Las Vegas with teammate and close pal Patrick Mahomes and attending some big events without his significant other, like the Kentucky Derby and the Miami Grand Prix this past weekend.
According to TMZ, Kelce was shocked by Kramer’s remarks about him on her podcast, where she portrayed him as a big-time partygoer and as someone who negatively reminded her of her ex-husband, former NFL tight-end Mike Caussin. She also slammed him for always trying to seek attention.
Despite her stinging comments, Kramer and Kelce have never met, and the football star had no idea who she was before hearing of her comments.
Regardless, Kelce thinks Kramer is ‘blowing hot air’ just for a few seconds in the spotlight, according to a TMZ source.
