Ahead of their debut on the practice field for mandatory minicamp, the Miami Dolphins took proactive steps by securing the signatures of five of their draft picks early Tuesday morning. The signings included fourth-round selection Jaylen Wright, fifth-rounder Mo Kamara, two sixth-round picks – Malik Washington and Patrick McMorris – and seventh-round selection Tahj Washington.

However, the Dolphins still have outstanding negotiations with their two highest draft picks, edge defender Chop Robinson and offensive lineman Patrick Paul, whose contracts remain unsigned.

The financial landscape for the Dolphins saw a significant shift, with the team freeing up $18.5 million in salary cap space following the post-June 1 designation of Xavien Howard’s release. The newly signed contracts are strategically positioned among the top 51 salaries, which is pivotal as only these count towards the salary cap until the regular season commences.

Current estimates by overthecap.com place the Dolphins’ available cap space at approximately $18.8 million.

The minicamp sessions slated for Tuesday through Thursday are an integral part of the Dolphins’ 2024 preseason preparations, marking the conclusion of their offseason program.
