In a significant off-season development, the Miami Dolphins have fortified their defense by securing the experienced Calais Campbell, who is entering his 17th season in the NFL.

Amid considerations of hanging up his cleats, Campbell shared with the Miami press that the lure of the game and the potential he sees in the Dolphins’ lineup were too compelling to ignore. “I feel like there’s a really good opportunity here…You’re playing football at a high level still.

Why not do it one more time?” he remarked, highlighting his still potent game-play and the irresistible draw of another season on the gridiron.

Despite contemplating retirement, Campbell felt rejuvenated by his current form and the prospects with Miami, deciding to return for a 17th season. His sentiment, “Everything was feeling too good,” captured his readiness to chase glory once again.

A seasoned warrior of the turf, Campbell’s illustrious career includes six Pro Bowl selections and the honor of being named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team, testament to his prowess and impact across the league over the years.

Now 37, the veteran defensive lineman still harbours ambitions of clinching that elusive Super Bowl trophy. With a remarkable tally of 105.5 career sacks, 175 tackles for loss, and over 250 quarterback hits, Campbell’s track record speaks volumes of his ability to disrupt offenses effectively.

His recent stint with Atlanta saw him notch 6.5 sacks and 17 quarterback hits, demonstrating he still possesses the skills to be a formidable force. As the Dolphins face the departure of key defensive tackle Christian Wilkins to Las Vegas, Campbell’s role and impact become even more crucial to their aspirations.

Boasting a star-studded defense featuring the likes of Jalen Ramsey, Bradley Chubb, Shaq Barrett, Jaelan Phillips, Jordan Poyer, and Jevon Holland, Miami’s addition of Campbell is poised to elevate their game even further. The Dolphins are banking on his veteran leadership and on-field prowess to guide them in their quest for NFL supremacy.
