In their latest attempt to fortify the defensive line following the departure of key player Christian Wilkins to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Miami Dolphins have placed their bet on Neville Gallimore, a notable inclusion through free agency. Initially selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 NFL Draft’s third round (82nd overall), Gallimore brings with him a substantial record of performance from his tenure in the league spanning four years and participation in 52 NFL games.

With 14 games started out of his professional outings, Gallimore has notched up 90 tackles and four sacks since embarking on his NFL journey. As training camp looms, he is gearing up for a competitive showdown to claim a spot that offers considerable shoes to fill with Wilkins’ exit.

Despite lacking the pass-rushing prowess attributed to some of the elite interior linemen, Gallimore makes his presence felt with commendable tackling and rush defense skills, aiming to cement his place by dominating the middle of the field and curtailing the rush attacks.

As part of an ongoing series spotlighting key players on the Dolphins roster as they head into training camp, Gallimore comes into focus, following a review of his movements in the 2023 season, his manner of acquisition by the team, details of his contract, and projections for the upcoming 2024 season.

**NEVILLE GALLIMORE, Defensive Tackle**
– **Height**: 6-2

– **Weight**: 302 lbs.
– **Experience**: 5 Years

– **Alma Mater**: Oklahoma
– **Acquisition**: Signed as an unrestricted free agent from the Dallas Cowboys, 2024

**2023 Season in Review**
Gallimore saw the field in all 17 of the Cowboys’ games last season, including their playoff outing against Green Bay, despite not being slotted in as a starting player. Within 288 defensive snaps, accounting for 27% of Dallas’s defensive plays last season, he clinched 16 tackles, achieved one sack, made 2 tackles for loss, and delivered two quarterback hits.

**Contract and Cap Information**
Gallimore has inked a one-year deal with the Dolphins, valuing $1.79 million, which includes a $665,000 guaranteed signing bonus.

For the 2024 season, his earnings are broken down into a base salary of $1.12 million alongside the signing bonus, with a cap hit mirroring the contract’s total value. Come 2025, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

**Looking Ahead to 2024**
In the quest to effectively compensate for Wilkins’ absence, Gallimore finds himself amidst a competitive landscape, pitted against offseason signings including, but not limited to, iTeair Tart, Isaiah Mack, Benito Jones, and Jonathan Harris. His run-stopping capability could see him carve out a vital role within a rotation-heavy scheme preferred by new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.

Veteran presence like Zach Sieler, alongside fresh additions like the 16-year stalwart Calais Campbell, crafts a dynamic defensive line unit where Gallimore’s propensity for stifling the run could make him an essential fixture for the Dolphins in the 2024 season.
