Two years have passed since the surprising trade of Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs, and the celebrated wide receiver seems to be thriving in Miami. Hill has even expressed a straightforward and genuine desire to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, as they approach possible discussions of a contract extension with the Miami Dolphins during this offseason. During the opening of the Dolphins training camp on Tuesday, Hill admitted to reporters that he was uncertain about his current status in the contract negotiations, but he emphasized his intention to stay with Miami long-term. “Obviously, I let Drew and the team handle that and that situation,” Hill remarked about his contract discussions. “The main thing I told Drew was, ‘Do not get me traded, bro. The last time that happened, it resulted in a trade.’”

Hill expressed a strong desire to remain in Miami, emphasizing his personal and family connections to the city. “I really want to stay here in Miami,” Hill said. “My family loves it here – my wife, my kids, they all love it. And I enjoy playing for the coach and with my teammates. I’m not looking to leave.”

As Hill starts the second year of his four-year, $120 million contract, he will earn a base salary of $19.7 million this season. However, his salary for the 2024-25 season is considered low compared to the rapidly increasing market for star wide receivers. Notably, prominent players such as Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings and A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles have secured substantial top-market extensions this offseason.

Hill’s performance last season was outstanding, leading the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, and averaging the highest yards per game at 112.4. His achievements have placed him in the conversation for league MVP.
