Robert Jones has recently re-signed with the Miami Dolphins, aiming to succeed Robert Hunt, who moved to the Carolina Panthers. Having initially joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2021, Jones sees the open right guard slot this season as his prime chance to secure a starting role.

His approach remains as resolute as it was during his first training camp, though now, instead of merely striving to make the team, he’s determined to earn the starting position at right guard. “It’s just like when I started as an undrafted free agent: just go out there and prove myself,” Jones expressed. “Keep learning, refine my techniques, play fiercely, and just focus on the game. The rest will take its course.”

Jones feels increasingly at ease under the guidance of offensive line coach Butch Barry, who is in his second year with the team. “Being in the third year with the same system and second year with the same coach makes things smoother. We’re familiar with what’s expected and what we need to do,” he noted.

Acknowledging the physical toll as he ages, Jones is focused on honing his skills. Inspired by teammate Terron Armstead’s emphasis on technique, he believes in continuous improvement. “With better technique, my confidence grows. Knowing the team’s expectations and my goals makes me more assured going into this season,” Jones concluded.
