Anthony Davis is delighted that the Lakers finally won a game in which LeBron James made history.

LeBron James and Bronny James made history on Tuesday, becoming the first father-son duo to share the court in the NBA when the Los Angeles Lakers took on the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Lakers won 110-103 on the night and Anthony Davis stated postgame he was glad the team finally won a game where James made history.

“This is the first time we had a LeBron moment that was something huge and we won,” Davis said. “Every other we always lost, so it kinda kills the moment. But it was a special moment for everybody.”

Prior to this, the Lakers had indeed managed to lose basically every time LeBron had made history since joining them in 2018. Let’s have a look at those moments.

On Mar. 16, 2019, James passed Michael Jordan on the scoring list but the Lakers lost 115-99 to the Denver Nuggets. Less than a year later on Jan. 25, 2020, he passed Kobe Bryant on the list, but the Philadelphia 76ers blew out the Lakers 108-91 on the night.

We had to wait a while for the next historic moment, as it came over two years later. On Mar. 19, 2022, LeBron passed Karl Malone to get to second on the scoring list but the Lakers lost 127-119 to the Washington Wizards.

Up next was the big one, as LeBron became the NBA’s all-time leading scorer by passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb. 7, 2023. While that accomplishment stole all the headlines, the Lakers ended up being on the losing end again, as the Thunder won 133-130.

Then earlier this year in another game against the Nuggets on Mar. 2, LeBron became the first player to reach 40,000 points in the NBA. Unfortunately for him, the Lakers lost 124-114 to drop to 0-5 in games where he made history.

As Davis pointed out, losing those games does kind of ruin the moment. So, the 31-year-old took it upon himself to ensure that didn’t happen again on Tuesday.

Davis was at his dominant best against the Timberwolves, recording 36 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and three blocks. The nine-time All-Star went 11-23 from the field, 1-3 from beyond the arc, and 13-15 from the line. The likes of Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle, and Naz Reid had no answer for him.

As for LeBron, he had a relatively mediocre outing. The 39-year-old finished with 16 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two blocks. Bronny, meanwhile, had one rebound in three minutes. While neither of the two played great, seeing them out there together was quite amazing, and Davis spoke about experiencing it.

“Fortunately, I’ve been a part of a lot of LeBron moments since I’ve been here,” Davis said. “But that’s a special moment, I mean, something that you think about as a father. Obviously I’m definitely not playing with my kids. My boy’s three years old, I have no intention of playing with him but to be able to share that moment with them was monumental, especially for our team but definitely special for them.”

“Just looking at them checking in at the same time at the scorer’s table, gave me like a little chills,” Davis continued. “You see it in preseason whatever but we wasn’t really at home. To do it in front of this crowd, everybody standing up, it was a special moment.”

The Lakers, of course, didn’t play at all at home during preseason, so this was the first time that LeBron and Bronny played together in front of their fans. The reception they gave the two made that moment all the more special.
