Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is approaching the end of his NFL career after 12 glorious seasons, but according to Patrick Mahomes, you wouldn’t know it.
With many thinking Kelce would hang up the cleats had the Chiefs been victorious in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, with Kansas City getting body slammed into the Caesars Superdome turf, Travis decided to have one more go around.
It did look as if Father Time was catching up to Kelce last season, as he totaled his lowest yards total (823) and touchdowns (three) since his rookie season.
But according to Mahomes, as the Chiefs’ offseason gets underway, Kelce isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.
“If it’s the last ride, you would never know,” Mahomes said. “The way he’s talking about football, he’s talking about working, and trying to be even better this year than he was last year. Doesn’t seem like a guy that it’s his last ride, like he’s tired of the job, he’s in here, he’s working, and I know his body feels good, feels better than even last year. I think he’s motivated to go out there and have an even better year than he had this last.”

Coming off his “worst” season of his career, it is no wonder Kelce is motivated to improve. However, 823 yards is still nothing to sneeze at. Such has been the high level of Travis’ play that we have become accustomed to that 823 yards is considered a down year.
With the Chiefs now looking to bounce back after the Super Bowl loss, the franchise doesn’t have to look too far for motivation as the offseason gets underway.
As for Kelce, as he enters Year 13 in the NFL, it appears he is still as spritely as ever as training camp comes into view.
And if this is Kelce’s last ride, then it’s gotten off to a rather positive start.
