The Miami Dolphins have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Obinna Eze after a tryout, the team announced. The New York Jets had just released Eze.
The Steelers signed Eze in 2023, and he joined the Jets shortly after his release from the team. Eze stayed on the Jets’ practice squad over the last two seasons. An undrafted free agent out of TCU in the 2022 NFL Draft, Eze started his career with the Detroit Lions. He then would come to the Steelers in 2023. He inked a deal with the Michigan Panthers of the USFL for four days before the Jets came knocking.
He started his college career at Memphis before transferring up to TCU in an effort to strengthen his NFL resume before leaving college.
Eze is a native of Lagos, Nigeria, and could have taken up an international player pathway spot on a team’s roster, which could have helped him find another opportunity immediately after the Jets cut him.
The 6-foot-8, 325-pound offensive tackle has yet to play a snap in an NFL game, despite being in the league for the last three seasons.
