DeAndre Moore was able to put together a successful sophomore campaign catching passes from Quinn Ewers. Though entering his junior season, Arch Manning has taken over as the starting quarterback. Moore is only going to see his role expanded even further throughout the 2025 season.
While games have not taken place, everyone wants to know what the early difference between Ewers and Manning is. Instead of breaking down their individual games, Moore decided to give the present media a hilarious answer.
“One had baby wheels and one has super wheels,” Moore said when speaking to the media on Thursday.
When asked which quarterback is which description, Moore once again pulled into his bag of jokes. “Oh, you know.”
Yes, we do know. Ewers is not too well-known for his ability outside of the pocket. More of a traditional pro-style quarterback, the amount of designed runs for Ewers has to fit on one of Steve Sarkisian‘s hands. Due to sacks being counted as rushing yards in college, Ewers finished with -59 yards during his career. Eight touchdowns are on there too, if looking for a bright spot.
Manning is going to be a little different. He was quick to make an impact with his feet when playing for an injured Ewers last season. A 57-yard touchdown in the UTSA game set Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium into a frenzy, even with the lead already up to three scores. That may have been the moment where Manning Mania began.
Flash forward to the season finale, Manning once again provided an electric run against Texas A&M. Sarkisian called the backup’s number down in the red zone on 4th and 1, diving right at the pylon to open the scoring late in the first quarter.
Sarkisian is definitely going to call the number of “Super Wheels” a little more often this season. An interesting dynamic Texas will be able to add to the playbook.
But when Manning is dropping in the pocket, Moore is going to be a popular guy he targets. Moore played in all 16 games for Texas last year, catching 39 passes for 456 yards and seven touchdowns. If the Longhorns have things go to plan, all three of those numbers will be a lot higher by the time they are finished in 2025. Maybe the yards and touchdowns are what Manning can strive for in the run game moving forward.
