While Tua Tagovailoa and his long-term health seems to be the main focus of the Miami Dolphins these days, another serious situation still exists regarding the team this year:
Tyreek Hill’s detainment ahead of the Dolphins’ Week 1 game against the Jaguars remains a major story, and Hill gave an update on how things are being handled this week.
“There’s been some small steps moved forward,” Hill said on Thursday.
“Right now, I want to do a good job of keeping that private. When everything’s happened, it’s going to happen. We’ll kind of lean on you guys to get the word out and spread the message, but right now it’s just small conversations. It’s almost like contract negotiations.”
A source tells Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that Hill is still considering legal action against the Miami-Dade Police Department. The star wide receiver has been receptive to finding common ground with the police, taking time to meet with multiple local police chiefs this week.
Hill has said that he would like to see the officer who detained him, Daniel Torres, fired after the incident earlier this month. The Dolphins star was pulled from his car and thrown to the ground by Torres.

According to records obtained by NBC News, Torres has been disciplined several times during his 27-year career on the force. He’s been suspended for as many as 50 days, received four written reprimands and has been named in numerous complaints.
“Each action that a law enforcement official take is governed by standard operating procedures,” Hill’s attorney Julius Collins said in a statement shortly after the incident.
“We are of the opinion that the officer’s use of force was excessive, escalating, and reckless. We are demanding that the officer be terminated effective immediately.”
We’ll see if Hill’s potential to take legal action against the police department influences their decision on whether to keep Torres on the force.
