The Miami Dolphins have only played one game in the 2025 season, but it’s clear they are on the verge of completely falling apart. After getting destroyed by the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1, rumors are swirling all around the Dolphins, and it appears that both head coach Mike McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier are already on the hot seat.
In their 33-8 loss to Indianapolis, Miami looked completely uninterested in winning. It’s safe to say that this team has a lot on the line this year, and opening the season in that manner has done no one on the team any favors. Ahead of their Week 2 contest against the New England Patriots, a banner was seen flying over Hard Rock Stadium urging the team to fire both McDaniel and Grier.
Calls for the Dolphins to Fire Mike McDaniel, Chris Grier Grow Louder
After a breakout campaign in 2023, the Dolphins struggled to replicate their success last season. Injuries and the constant questions revolving around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa certainly didn’t help, but it was disappointing to see Miami miss the playoffs entirely. That set the stage for a wildly important 2025 season, and so far, things aren’t going well for the Dolphins.
Questions about whether or not Tagovailoa and McDaniel can win together remain, and they did nothing to make those questions disappear in Week 1. Furthermore, there’s a lot of drama surrounding star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who recently faced a slew of domestic violence allegations from his ex-wife, Keeta Vaccaro. Trade rumors involving Hill have picked up once again as a result of these allegations and the team’s horrid Week 1 performance.
There may not be a team that needs a win more than Miami in Week 2, and it will have a decent chance to earn its first win of the season against New England. However, fans’ patience is already running thin, as evidenced by the banner calling for McDaniel and Grier’s heads. If the Dolphins can’t win on Sunday, the calls for these two to get fired will reach a screaming pitch.
