Ahead of the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills renewing their AFC East rivalry, Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa gave an honest assessment of his capabilities compared to his biggest rival.
The Dolphins travel to the not-yet frozen landscape of Orchard Park, New York for Thursday Night Fooball.
Miami (0-2) is in a vastly different spot than Buffalo (2-0) – having struggled in their first two games of the season against the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots.
Now, the Dolphins will face the reigning NFL MVP – Bills QB Josh Allen – after allowing 473 combined passing yards in their first two games of the season.
Speaking to the media before the game, Tagovailoa admitted that Allen is on a different level from him.
‘Dude, he’s top tier,’ Tagovailoa said in a press conference. ‘You know, if it’s not with his arm, it’s with his legs. That dude can do literally anything he wants.

"That dude can do literally anything he wants. Definitely different skill set for me. I can’t do half of what he does."

‘So, definitely different skill set for me. I can’t do half of what he does when it comes to running the ball and any of that.
‘And then with how he can just chuck a ball down the field with… the arm strength he has… He’s supreme when it comes to that.’
While his honesty is admirable, a number of fans were left stunned by the admission of a quarterback who was viewed so highly in college – only to suffer multiple professional injuries which have de-railed his progress.
‘He went full honesty mode lol You can speak highly of someone without going into all that detail man,’ wrote one user on X.
One Dolphins fan said, ‘There’s no way he just owned himself like that… At least he’s telling the truth though.’
‘Tua doesn’t even believe in himself anymore,’ said another Miami fan.
‘“I can’t do half of what he does” is a painfully accurate statement,’ one post read as another fan wondered if Tagovailoa was the ‘Least confident QB in the nfl?’
After leaving Alabama as one of the highest rated QB prospects in years, Tagovailoa has suffered multiple injuries across the past four seasons.
That includes three recorded concussions in the 2022 season and one concussion in the 2024 season – which have led to many doctors calling for him to retire from the game.
