For their second consecutive game in a row, the Baltimore Ravens lost to the Kansas City Chiefs by seven points. Quarterback Lamar Jackson said after Thursday night’s game that he didn’t feel the officials made a decisive call correctly.
The Kansas City Chiefs had a few calls go their way
There were questionable calls throughout the NFL season opener. Many of the calls went in the Chiefs’ favor. The Ravens were called for seven penalties totaling 64 yards. The Chiefs were flagged six times for 45 yards.
There was a questionable video that surfaced on social media Thursday night of Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo calling a timeout late in the first half. Only a head coach and players are allowed to call timeouts.
While some of those calls could be up for debate, the beef Jackson has with the officiating crew doesn’t seem too controversial.

On the final play of the night, Jackson threw to Isaiah Likely at the back of the endzone for what was ruled on the field to be a touchdown. Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was getting the offense ready to go for a two-point conversion to try and escape Arrowhead Stadium with a 28-27 win.
Unfortunately for the Ravens, the official replay showed Likely stepping out of bounds with his toe before completing the catch with two feet inbounds. The result of the play ended the game with a 27-20 Chiefs victory after officials overturned the initial touchdown ruling.

Lamar Jackson thinks it was a touchdown

At his press conference following the game, Jackson was asked about the incompletion. He doesn’t think Likely stepped out of bounds before making the catch with two feet inbounds.
“I thought it was a touchdown. I still think it was a touchdown,” Jackson said.
Video and photographic evidence I’ve seen appears to show the officials made the right call on Likely stepping out of bounds before scoring a touchdown.
Not everyone on social media agrees, especially fans of the Ravens.
Jackson’s comments will fan the flames of spectators who think the league is rigging games for the Chiefs.
