This time last year Christian Wilkins was the biggest free agent signing in the NFL. The Raiders signed him with the hopes he would upgrade their defensive line. Five games into the season, he suffered a jones fracture in his foot that ended his season. Now his time with the team is done. He has been released.
Wilkins was expected to be healthy well before the Raiders returned to their offseason program for the 2025 season. But he suffered an unexpected setback in his rehab that not only cost him the entire offseason program, but had him placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to begin camp.
Now the Raiders are cutting their losses with Wilkins, and voiding the rest of his contract due to his treatment of the injury that caused the setback.
