Acquiring a superstar asset isn’t out of the picture for the Los Angeles Lakers.
If the organization snags a Chicago Bulls phenomenon prepared to find a new NBA home, their season could take a positive turn.
“The Los Angeles Lakers have already made a move before the upcoming NBA Trade Deadline with acquiring Dorian Finney-Smith,” The Wrightway Sports Network’s Marissa Myers wrote Friday.
“They might not be all done, though, as they need to ensure they go all in to make sure they win another championship with LeBron James still around.”
“With that in mind they have to consider a big time trade, and that includes trading a young star like Rui Hachimura.”
“Hachimura has been deemed a player that the Lakers want to build around for the future, but it’s clear that Hachimura is going to be the Lakers’ key to getting a better caliber player that they need to take the team to the next level.”
“With Hachimura the key to his game is his three-point shot as he has made 42% of his three-point shots this season, which has helped in creating space on the court.”
“Pair that with his rebounding ability, and Hachimura has the potential to develop further, but it’s a sacrifice the Lakers will need to make.”
“For this, they trade Hachimura to the Chicago Bulls in return for Zach Lavine. The Bulls still aren’t contenders, and their 15-19 record reflects this.”
“With LaVine he is a valuable, experienced player the Lakers can trade to ensure the Bulls get younger and continue to rebuild. Adding a player like Hachimura ensures that they do just that.”
After seven and half seasons with the Bulls, it’s time for LaVine to start fresh with a different organization.
LaVine has posted impressive numbers and showcased his three-level scoring ability in a Bulls uniform, but things have gotten stale in Chicago.
The Bulls aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, making it pointless for the franchise to hold LaVine hostage in his prime.
In Los Angeles, the two-time All-Star would utilize his dynamic skill set to help James and the Lakers get back on track.
While Hachimura has been a solid contributor with Los Angeles this season, LaVine would be a clear upgrade.
