The massive deal to keep Chris Jones a star for the Kansas City Chiefs for the rest of his career has been the most significant move so far in free agency for the defending Super Bowl champions. The deal benefits both sides and stretches well beyond the money, as Jones has long-term plans with the franchise.

The 2024 first-team All-Pro addressed the media via Zoom on Tuesday to discuss his new contract. He focused on his reasons for re-signing and building a legacy of success for the team with the security of knowing he would be in the franchise’s plans.

“I think it all played a part, missing the training camp,” Jones explained. “You know, from the beginning of the season to the end, and then it’s been able to fulfill another ring with the Chiefs organization, I think there was the most important goal.

“I think it was important for me to come back, and I want to leave a legacy in Kansas City. I think there’s been talks throughout the year very silently, just understanding that I want to be here with this organization. There was no other organization I would want to play for.”

The Chiefs drafted Jones in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and he has witnessed the team’s growth to become a perennial Super Bowl champion. The Kansas City community has embraced him and continues to give back to the local Boys and Girls Club.

“I think the organization or how much I love Kansas City, the fans know how much I love K.C.,” said Jones, “I said it at the parade. Standing by that, I had doubt at times, but I never once thought that I’d be leaving the Chiefs organization.”

Jones has his eyes on more Super Bowl titles in Kansas City and believes the new contract won’t change his work ethic on the field. He plans on continuing his domination and contributing to more success for years to come.
