Kansas City fans held their breath in preseason Week 2 after a defensive rookie limped off the field against the Seahawks. For a moment, concerns about another costly injury began to surface quickly.

The sideline atmosphere turned tense as trainers evaluated the young lineman. Though the initial exit looked worrying, the medical staff soon delivered a cautious sense of optimism regarding his availability moving forward in August.

That optimism centered around Omarr Norman-Lott, the Chiefs’ second-round pick from Tennessee. The rookie left the matchup with an ankle scare, sparking questions about whether his preseason campaign was suddenly in jeopardy.

Kansas City’s official medical update provided relief, confirming Norman-Lott’s injury was not severe. The team expects him to recover in time for their upcoming preseason clash against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.

The 6-foot-3 defensive tackle had been pushing for an early role alongside star pass-rusher Chris Jones. Coaches praised his progress in camp, noting his combination of power and quickness in the middle of the line.

With Norman-Lott sidelined against Seattle, depth options Fabien Lovett Sr. and Marlon Tuipulotu carried extra snaps. While serviceable, the Chiefs’ defensive front clearly missed the spark their rookie had shown in earlier practices.

The organization emphasized that Norman-Lott will be monitored closely this week. Still, the target remains clear: suiting him up in Week 3 of the preseason to regain rhythm and showcase his potential against Chicago.

For a roster battered by multiple minor injuries, Norman-Lott’s expected return is welcome news. Chiefs fans can breathe easier, knowing the promising rookie should be back soon to strengthen a defensive unit seeking stability.
