On Monday, the Miami Dolphins held what would be their final practice session of 2024 with a roster surpassing 53 players, shifting into regular season preparations. From this point, the press can observe only the initial segments of practice.

During this limited viewing, reporters noted the absence of several key players. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey was missing due to an unspecified issue, continuing his recent streak of absences. Tight end Durham Smythe was also unaccounted for, despite his consistent presence in prior practices and sitting out the last game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Missing alongside them were rookie running back Jaylen Wright, who appeared in the preseason finale against Tampa Bay despite being limited in practice earlier, receivers River Cracraft and Braylon Sanders, defensive tackle Benito Jones, and linebacker Anthony Walker, Jr.

On the sidelines, cornerback Cam Smith, defensive back Pat McMorris, wide receiver Erik Ezukanma, offensive lineman Aaron Brewer, and safety Jevon Holland were seen but not actively participating. Tackle Ryan Hayes was noted to be wearing a walking boot.

In protective, red no-contact jerseys were wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, tight end Tanner Conner, and running back Chris Brooks, an attire typically designated for quarterbacks.

Waddle, sporting a compression sleeve on his left leg, had been sidelined for a couple of weeks. Head coach Mike McDaniel had previously indicated that this was a precautionary measure and noted that Waddle’s availability would likely be different during the regular season.

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill and tackle Terron Armstead were also back at practice, though the extent of their participation was unclear.

Regarding players on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, McDaniel shared that decisions had been finalized about the status of Bradley Chubb, Isaiah Wynn, and Cameron Goode, though Odell Beckham Jr.’s condition remained undecided. It seems Ryan Hayes and Braylon Sanders are possibly the ones who might not make the final 53-man roster, based on their current situations.
