Deep breaths, Dolphins fans… Tua Tagovailoa is expected back on the field this season. That’s the word from Head Coach Mike McDaniel, who reassured everyone that Tagovailoa’s injury won’t sideline him for the remainder of the year. While the Dolphins navigate the coming weeks without their starting quarterback, fans can at least find solace knowing he’s on track for a return.

The Return Timeline

Now, before you start planning that victory parade, remember Tagovailoa is still on injured reserve. He’s obligated to miss at least one more game, meaning he won’t be suiting up for Week 7’s matchup against the Colts.

The earliest we could see him back under center is Week 8 against the Cardinals. Mark your calendars, folks, because that’s when things could get interesting.

The Investment

It’s no secret the Dolphins have put a lot of faith (and cash) into Tagovailoa. Drafted fifth overall out of Alabama in 2020, he signed a hefty rookie deal, and the Dolphins exercised his fifth-year option for a cool $23,171,000.

But the real vote of confidence came this past offseason when the ink dried on a four-year contract extension worth up to a whopping $212 million, with a cool $167 million guaranteed. That’s a serious commitment, folks, and it speaks volumes about what the Dolphins see in their quarterback.

Looking Ahead

Sure, Tagovailoa’s season stats before the injury – 483 passing yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 64.5% completion rate over two games – might not scream MVP, but he’s the undisputed leader of this team. And with a healthy Tagovailoa back at the helm, the Dolphins have as good a shot as any to make some noise in the playoffs. So, while we wait for his return, let’s trust the process, keep the faith, and get ready for what promises to be an exciting second half of the season.

We’ll keep you updated on Tagovailoa’s status as more information becomes available. Stay tuned, Dolphins faithful!
