The Miami Dolphins are gearing up for a challenging road game against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, just days after their last game. The short week of practice might not be the biggest hurdle for the Dolphins, as they might be without their veteran running back, Raheem Mostert.

Head Coach Mike McDaniel has expressed doubt about Mostert’s availability for the game. Mostert has been nursing a chest injury sustained in Week 1 against the Jaguars, an injury that sidelined him for their previous game against the Bills.

While the team values Mostert’s experience and leadership, rushing him back from injury isn’t a risk they’re willing to take. If Mostert is unable to play, and signs seem to be pointing in that direction, the load will fall on De’Von Achane. Achane filled in admirably against the Bills, showcasing his speed and agility, and he’ll be looking to replicate that performance against the Seahawks.

Although Coach McDaniel might initially favor the passing game, he may soon realize that victory hinges on establishing a strong running game. Alongside Achane, the Dolphins will have Jaylen Wright active and ready to contribute. Additionally, Jeff Wilson Jr. is expected to see an increased workload.

The Dolphins’ decision to release Chris Brooks during final cuts could come into play, as Brooks, now healthy and with the Green Bay Packers, could be a factor against them. If Miami struggles to get their running game going, it could be a long day for their offense.

Quarterback Skylar Thompson’s inconsistency adds another layer of concern. While the Dolphins remain confident in Thompson’s abilities, a lackluster performance from him would place even more emphasis on the run game.

The Dolphins’ priority should be Mostert’s long-term health. He needs ample time to recover fully before returning to action.

Fortunately, the Dolphins’ run game appears to be in capable hands with Achane. However, not having Mostert’s veteran presence and tough running style could pose a challenge against a formidable Seattle defense.
