The Baltimore Ravens play host to the Buffalo Bills for Sunday Night Football at MT&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, MD. The game features two top-tier AFC opponents, both coming off statement wins in Week 3.

The Ravens beat the Dallas Cowboys handily 28-25, while the Bills beat the Jacksonville Jaguars by a resounding 37 points, 47-10.

Coming into the game tonight, the talk of the town was all about the battle of the quarterbacks: Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson versus Bills quarterback Josh Allen. The two came into the league together in 2018 and were both first-round picks. While the two will undoubtedly make their respective presences known, the first biggest highlight of the night belonged to the Ravens rushing game.

Derrick Henry sets Ravens’ franchise record on first carry

After forcing the Bills to punt on their first possession of the game, the Ravens took the field from their 13-yard line, and on their first play, they handed the ball off to Derrick Henry. Needless to say, history was made immediately after.

On the Ravens’ first play of the game, Lamar Jackson took the snap under center and handed the ball off to Henry who then proceeded to go untouched en route to an 87-yard touchdown run that set the Ravens franchise record for longest rushing touchdown in team history. It was his first touch of the night and it immediately rocked M&T Bank Stadium.

Before Henry blew past every Bills defender on his way to making history, Lamar Jackson was the previous owner of the longest rushing touchdown in Ravens history. Back in 2022, Jackson ran one in from his own 21-yard line, capitalizing on a then-franchise record 79-yard touchdown run.

It’s only fitting that Henry came to Baltimore to form an unstoppable tandem with Jackson, and now he’s the one resetting the record book at Jackson’s expense. Jackson surely won’t mind giving up the record to ‘King’ Henry.

Henry’s record-breaking run only reinforces the narrative that he still has plenty left in the tank. This man is far from washed. After last week’s 151-yard performance against the Cowboys and tonight’s 87-yard record-setting run, it feels like he’s just getting warmed up. Maybe he’ll break more Ravens records on his second touch.
