Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland was not disappointed to bid farewell to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio after a single season with the team. Holland’s response to Fangio’s departure in January was to post a video of himself kicking rocks, a gesture he later described as coincidental, though its symbolic meaning was clear to many.

Months following the incident, Holland’s opinion appears unchanged, particularly evident during the Dolphins’ Organized Team Activities (OTAs). The safety expressed strong approval for Anthony Weaver, the team’s new defensive coordinator, describing him as a vast improvement over Fangio.

Dolphins fans are encouraged to follow local sports and news closely by subscribing to The Palm Beach Post, with a special offer making it even more accessible.

Holland’s enthusiasm for Weaver’s leadership is evident. “A complete 180,” he described the change in command. He highlighted Weaver’s ability to connect with players on a personal level, stating, “It’s the fact that he’s a good person that makes a difference.”

This reflection seemingly casts Fangio in a less favorable light, suggesting Holland respects Weaver not only for his coaching strategies but also for his character. The sentiment that Fangio’s interpersonal skills were lacking is apparently shared across the Dolphins’ locker room, as per reports from the Miami Herald.

Fangio, aged 65 at the time of his departure from Miami, quickly transitioned to a new role with the Philadelphia Eagles. This swift employment shift brought out defense statements from Eagles players, including cornerback Darius Slay who praised Fangio, countering the negative impressions from the Dolphins camp.

The varied reactions to Fangio’s coaching style have not gone unnoticed, with Dolphins’ Jalen Ramsey openly criticizing Fangio for not leveraging players’ full capabilities, a sentiment echoed during the departure of Xavien Howard from the team.

The Dolphins are now focused on building rapport with Anthony Weaver. New addition Jordyn Brooks, a linebacker, praised Weaver’s leadership and intelligence, expressing excitement for the upcoming season under his guidance. Weaver brings a wealth of experience to the Dolphins, having served as the defensive line coach for the Baltimore Ravens for three seasons and spending four years with the Houston Texans prior to his current role.
