The Los Angeles Lakers’ eight-game winning streak has come to an end, with the Boston Celtics taking down LeBron James, Luka Doncic and the Purple and Gold in their rivalry game on Saturday.
Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics, dropping 40 points, along with 12 rebounds and eight assists in the 111-101 win. Doncic and James, meanwhile, combined for 56 points in a losing effort for the Lakers.
While it’s quite a disappointing result for L.A., the loss is the least of the team’s concern. After all, James suffered an injury during the contest and is now in danger of missing a significant amount of time.
James suffered a groin injury midway through the fourth quarter after playing 44 minutes and was forced out for the rest of the game. Later on, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reported that “one source said the initial thought is that it will sideline James for a matter of weeks, not a matter of days.”
While LeBron James is holding out hope that the injury isn’t as serious as the one he had in his first year with the Lakers, which caused him to miss 17 straight games in over a month of recovering, fans couldn’t help but be worried about his health status moving forward.
“Not good not good,” a commenter wrote. Another frustrated fan said, “[Expletive] man. Just when things were going well.”
“I hate everything,” a disappointed follower added. A fourth Lakers faithful shared, “We’re cooked.”
“WEEKS IM OUT BRO,” a follower noted.
“Horrible news. We might be cooked,” another L.A. supporter posted.

More details about James’ injury are expected to come out once the superstar undergoes more tests. Sure enough, hopes remain high that it isn’t as severe as the latest rumors suggest.
