The Miami Dolphins have bolstered their linebacker unit by acquiring former New York Giants special teams standout, Cam Brown. This new addition to the Dolphins roster was made public through the team’s official social media channels.

Brown, who entered the NFL as a 6th round pick, has dedicated the initial phase of his professional career to the Giants, where he contributed over four seasons. Throughout his tenure in the league, Brown has been a consistent presence on the field, featuring in nearly all of his team’s games, although he has yet to secure a start. His stats include 35 tackles and three quarterback hits, with a sack still eluding his career achievements.

Notably, Brown’s contributions have largely been within the realm of special teams. He has seen limited action on defense, taking only about 9% of the defensive snaps during his rookie year and not participating in any defensive plays last year. Conversely, on special teams, Brown has been significantly more active, participating in over 80% of the snaps across each season, which translates to 107 defensive snaps versus 1,328 special teams snaps over his career.

At 26 years old, the Maryland native has traveled a bit before settling with the Dolphins. His 2023 season started with a signing by the Chargers, though he was released in August, leading to a brief reunion with the Giants. His collegiate career at Penn State was impressive, with Brown recording 100 solo tackles, 98 assists, and 4.5 sacks.

With his move to Miami, Brown is expected to vie for a special teams spot on the roster, while also providing depth to the linebacker position. Given that the Dolphins currently have only 66 players on their roster, signings like Brown’s are anticipated as the team gears up for training camp, looking to finalize their lineup.
