The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly had discussions with the Miami Dolphins regarding a trade for Tight End Jonnu Smith. Smith is looking for a new contract with the Miami Dolphins. That led to the team looking to find a trade partner for the tight end. Smith would prefer to ink a new deal keeping him in Miami according to sources.
Smith is coming off a great 2024 campaign. He made the first Pro Bowl of his career and set a franchise record for receptions(88), receiving yards(884), and touchdowns(8). Will Smith be a good fit for the Pittsburgh Steelers?
How Will Smith Fit With the Pittsburgh Steelers?

If Smith were to end up in Pittsburgh, he would have a familiar face welcoming him. Arthur Smith is Pittsburgh’s OC. He held that same position with the Tennessee Titans when Jonnu Smith was there in 2019 and 2020. Jonnu Smith would join a Pittsburgh Steelers offense that has some big names including Wide Receiver DK Metcalf and Tight End Pat Freiermuth. It is unclear what would happen to Freiermuth if Smith came to town.
Final Thoughts
Smith is a great player, but the Pittsburgh Steelers do not a viable option at the quarterback position. Aaron Rodgers has been linked to the team for much of the offseason, but has yet to officially sign with the team. NFL fans will be watching this situation as calendar turns over to June.
