The Miami Dolphins have had their fair share of ups and downs when it comes to drafting talent, but it looks like they may have struck gold with Chop Robinson. While his rookie season didn’t start with fireworks in terms of sack numbers, Robinson’s impact on the field was undeniable. Starting off a bit slow, he steadily found his stride, proving himself as a formidable force against opposing quarterbacks.

Despite his initial headline stats not turning heads—his sack count wasn’t eye-popping at first—he demonstrated his knack for getting constant pressure on the quarterback. Robinson’s first sack came during a critical matchup against the Buffalo Bills, marking the beginning of a notable upturn in his performance.

By the end of the season, he racked up six sacks, deflected four passes, totalled 26 tackles, and landed 14 hits on quarterbacks. Impressive figures that underscored his disruptive presence on the edge.

His efforts didn’t go unnoticed. ESPN recognized Robinson’s remarkable debut by including him in their 2024 All-Rookie team—an accolade that speaks volumes about his prowess.

As ESPN’s Ben Solak highlighted, Robinson’s season was a hidden gem. His explosive first step made him the eighth-fastest edge rusher, clocking an average get-off time of 0.76 seconds.

He converted that speed into a 17.2% pressure rate, which was the sixth best among all edge rushers with at least 200 pass rush attempts and the best among rookies, a group that included talents like Jared Verse.

Drafting Robinson was a shrewd move by Dolphins general manager Chris Grier, especially given the uncertainties surrounding the team’s depth at edge rusher due to injuries to Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. Robinson’s presence on the field offered the Dolphins much-needed fortification.

Looking forward, the 2025 season holds exciting potential for Miami. Assuming all are healthy, seeing Robinson line up with Phillips and Chubb could be a game-changer.

However, further bolstering the edge is likely on Miami’s offseason agenda, as Phillips’ injuries have been a source of concern. Bringing back a veteran like Emmanuel Ogbah could provide essential depth.

With expectations naturally set to rise, fans should anticipate Robinson stepping up his game even more in 2025. His rookie year laid a robust foundation, and now, with a season’s worth of experience, it’s reasonable to believe that his sack tally will only climb higher. Robinson looks more and more like a home-run pick for the Dolphins, and his journey is just getting started.
