The Miami Dolphins’ hopes for a playoff run this season are hanging by a thread. With their chances dwindling, there’s talk about the possibility of parting ways with some veteran players to better position themselves for future success. Enter Calais Campbell, a name that might be familiar to many NFL fans.

Despite being 38, Campbell continues to showcase an impressive level of play for the Dolphins. His stats tell a compelling story: 32 pressures, 10 tackles for a loss, five deflected passes, and four sacks this season alone.

While the Dolphins have faced some overarching struggles, leading fans and analysts alike to sometimes overlook Campbell’s stellar performances, he’s been nothing short of a defensive stalwart. Given his advancing age, the argument could be made to release Campbell so he can join a team in contention this season, potentially bypassing a challenging rebuilding phase.

The Detroit Lions might be just the destination for him. Despite a recent setback against the Buffalo Bills, which slightly dampened their status as serious Super Bowl challengers, the Lions’ potential remains.

Their defense faced a hard time trying to contain Josh Allen, one of the league’s elite quarterbacks, resulting in a hefty 48 points allowed. This defeat also brought to light a glaring issue: the injury to Alim McNeil, their standout defensive tackle.

Without McNeil, the Lions’ defensive depth was tested and, unfortunately, came up short.

Bringing Campbell into the mix could be the boost the Lions need. His experience and skill would not only deepen their defensive line but also potentially stabilize a unit that showed vulnerabilities in their recent loss. In the thick of their Super Bowl window, the Lions have to seize every opportunity, and signing Campbell, if he becomes available, might just be the move to keep their championship aspirations alive.
