Did a former backup quarterback just suggest the craziest trade in Dolphins history? Kurt Benkert, who you might remember from his one-game, two-kneel-down stint in the NFL (more on that later), has traded in his helmet for a microphone and become an analyst.

And let’s just say, he’s not afraid to make a splash. Benkert recently threw out a suggestion that has Dolphins fans buzzing: trading for Kyler Murray.

Now, before we dive into the logistics (or lack thereof) of this blockbuster idea, let’s hear Benkert out. He believes that pairing Murray with the Dolphins’ dynamic duo of Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle would be a match made in offensive heaven.

And honestly? He might be onto something.

Imagine Murray, with his cannon for an arm and escape artist mobility, dodging defenders and launching bombs to those two speedsters. Talk about a nightmare for opposing defenses!

You know what they say: speed kills.

“I’d like to see Kyler Murray traded to Miami,” Benkert said.

But let’s be real for a second. As much fun as it is to imagine Murray lighting up the scoreboard in Miami, the chances of this trade actually happening are slim to none.

For starters, Murray is currently under contract with the Arizona Cardinals, and the Dolphins just handed Tua Tagovailoa a massive contract extension. Unless the Cardinals suddenly decide to hit the reset button and the Dolphins develop a severe case of buyer’s remorse, this trade is about as likely as seeing a snowstorm in Miami.

And then there’s the Tua factor. The Dolphins are clearly committed to him, and they’re laser-focused on keeping him healthy, especially after those scary concussions last season.

Asking Tua to hand the reins over to another quarterback, especially one as dynamic as Murray, seems like a recipe for disaster. Plus, the Dolphins have invested heavily in building an offensive line to protect Tua.

Bringing in a mobile quarterback like Murray might undermine those efforts.

So, while we can appreciate Benkert for throwing out this wild hypothetical and sparking some much-needed excitement in the NFL offseason, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. A Murray-to-Miami trade is about as likely as the Dolphins winning the Super Bowl this year… with Benkert as their starting quarterback.
