He acknowledged that his injuries and lack of playing time in the 2022 postseason contributed to the decision to decline his option.

However, Edwards-Helaire remains optimistic about his future with the Chiefs and is determined to contribute to their success.

In the 2023 season, he played 15 games, started three, and accumulated 223 rushing yards and 17 catches for 188 yards with a touchdown.

He will continue to play for the Chiefs in 2024.
