The Miami Dolphins are reportedly working hard to sign wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. after he was released from the Baltimore Ravens.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explained Miami’s efforts to sign Beckham on NFL Live Friday.

“The Miami Dolphins are trying pretty hard to sign Odell Beckham,” Fowler said (3 second mark). “They’ve made him, I’m told, at least one contract offer, possibly two. They’ve been in contact with him and his representatives. They’re not quite there yet. There has not been that financial gulf bridged. I’m told Beckham is willing to wait if he has to just a little bit, he’s done this in the past, certainly wants to go to the right fit. But there is interest mutually in Miami.”

As Fowler noted, the Dolphins have already made Beckham one contract offer, which head coach Mike McDaniels confirmed a few weeks ago. Now, it seems Miami is making another push to land him.

The Dolphins have a strong receiving core with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle but are looking for a third option after Cedrick Wilson Jr. departed for the New Orleans Saints in free agency. Beckham, 31, could certainly help fill that position.

Last season with the Ravens, Beckham had 565 receiving yards and three touchdowns while playing on a one-year, $15 million contract. A three-time Pro Bowler, Beckham has notched five seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards but hasn’t reached that mark since 2019.

He’s struggled with injuries, most recently missing the entire 2022 season with a torn ACL. When healthy, he’s still a solid option, especially for Miami, where he wouldn’t be relied on as the No. 1 receiving option.

The Dolphins haven’t made many free agency moves, signing linebacker Jordyn Brooks, center Aaron Brewer, cornerback Kendall Fuller and tight end Jonnu Smith so far, but that could change as they look to bolster an already strong offense.

Per Spotrac, Beckham has a market value of $11.9 million. That number would be a pay cut from the 2023 season, but perhaps enough for him to land with Miami.
